Who We Are
Horizon Fostering Services was established in 2000 and now has a growing group of experienced approved foster carers. Horizon Fostering is rated as GOOD by Ofsted and striving to achieve outstanding rating. Our foster carers have developed skills to enhance therapeutic care to children.
We offer comprehensive training and support that uses some of the most up-to-date approaches in working with trauma affected children. Horizon Fostering Services welcomes enquiries and applications to foster from committed individuals. We need foster carers who have a genuine interest in improving outcomes for children, appreciate the uniqueness of every child and who can give children a secure and stable home life. Our carers come from diverse backgrounds in ethnicity, culture and religion. Their diversity enriches the service Horizon provides to local authorities.

Over the years our foster carers have provided feedback about our services and support, here are just a few. We will add some more very soon.
We care for carers and they care for children
No two children are the same even when they share the same experience as siblings. The full extent of a child’s experience may not be known for some time in their care journey. Even so what they have been through can impact on a child’s development, behaviour and ability to form relationships. Most children who have been through trauma can begin to heal in an environment where they feel listened to, accepted and nurtured. Fostering can be challenging and rewarding at the same time. That’s why we ensure our foster carers receive support 24/7 so they can provide the highest level of care to children and young people. There is always someone on the other end of the phone for guidance.
Learning and developing
Horizon can access an extensive programme of training and foster carers support group meetings throughout the year. Training can also be attended by household members over 16 and support carers. We encourage fostering households to take full advantage of upskilling themselves for successful fostering. Our supervising social workers help you to put together Personal Development Plans that meet your learning needs. They also assist you with completing your Training, Support and Development workbooks in your first year as an approved foster carer, see FAQs.
